AVL has entered the “Trout Farming & Processing Business” as its first venture. This will be followed by other Agri-based businesses in the near future.
Our History
In the early 1960s, a group of companies was set up under Industrial Promotion Services (IPS). Each company was created to provide venture capital, technical assistance, and management support to encourage and expand private enterprise in Sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia. In the 1990s and 2000s, IPS made sizable investments in Central Asia (Tajikistan and Afghanistan).
Our Heritage
IPS operates some of the largest companies in the agriculture, power and telecom sectors in Africa and Asia. Our businesses impact millions of lives, and are a driver to socio-economic stability and growth in these regions. Some of our businesses are as follows:
- Agriculture: Frigoken Ltd | Kenya | Employs 70,000 farmers
- Power: Bujagali Hydel Project | Uganda | Generates 50% of nation’s power
- Telecom: Roshan | Afghanistan | Leading cellular operator
Our Fish Farm & Processing Facility
IPS-Pakistan set-up a "Trout Farm" in Ishkoman – Gilgit Baltistan (GB) in 2017 to adapt the global Trout Farming standards to local requirements. In 2020, the Trout Farm was transferred to professional management under Allied Ventures, and is now operating at a commercial scale. The farm operates on international aquaculture standards and guidelines, under expert supervision. The Trout is raised in natural glacier water, and is fed the highest quality fish-feed in order to ensure our customers enjoy the finest Rainbow trout in the world.
AVL set up a state-of-the-art “Fish Processing Facility” in GB in 2020. Trout fish is processed and packaged at the facility, thus significantly improving the shelf-life of the product. The facility meets European standards, and follows HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point) guidelines.
AVL has put in place the supply chain to distribute our Rainbow Trout down-country, and across Pakistan.
